Marketing teams

The campaign shipped. The landing page moved. Nothing broke.

Every link a campaign sends out lives longer than the page it was built for. The newsletter is in an archive. The post is on somebody’s feed. The deck is in a shared drive with no owner. This is the layer that lets you change your mind after all of that.

What this is for

Four situations, and what happens in each.

  1. 01

    The offer changed on Tuesday

A promotion ends, and its landing page is replaced the same day. Every link in every scheduled post still points at it. Repoint the link and all of them move at once — the scheduled sends, the partner’s bio, the insert that went out with the order.

  2. 02

    The tracking came back stripped

Mail clients trim query strings. People paste links into Slack without them. A short link carries its own identity, so it keeps reporting after the UTM has gone, and tags group a campaign without a spreadsheet to maintain.

  3. 03

    The paste looked like nothing

Gated PDFs and form pages unfurl with no title, no image, and a description of the cookie banner. Write the card on the link instead. A routing rule can carry its own, so one link can unfurl two ways.

  4. 04

    The banner outlived the conference

Printed codes get scanned for months. A date rule sends the late scans to the recap and the on-site ones to the demo. Nothing is reprinted.

A quarter, in three moments

What the work actually looks like.

01Tuesday, 11am

Legal pulls the offer two weeks early

The landing page for the 20% promotion is replaced by lunchtime. Forty scheduled posts, a partner’s bio and an insert that went out with last month’s orders all still point at it.

Open the link, change the destination, save. Every one of those moves at once, and nothing that was already sent had to be recalled.

The destination field, and the header above it changing when it saves. The short URL does not.

02The following Monday

Somebody asks which placement pulled

The campaign ran across paid social, the newsletter, a partner site and a printed insert. Two of those strip query strings, so half the UTMs never came back.

One link per placement, tagged by campaign. The list is the report — no spreadsheet reconciling anything.

fixedlink.dev/dashboard/links
A list of campaign links on a custom domain, each with tags and a click count
A quarter of campaign work, on your own domain, with its numbers beside it.

03End of quarter

The slide that needs a real number on it

Not "impressions". Where the clicks came from, on what, and whether the line went up.

Four breakdowns across the account, or the same four for one link. A year of history on Pro, so the comparison to last quarter exists.

fixedlink.dev/dashboard/analytics
Analytics showing clicks over time, top countries and top referrers
Clicks and unique visitors, then countries, referrers, devices and browsers.
