Sales and outreach

Change sequencer. Keep the links you already sent.

Sales engagement platforms rewrite every link in every email to their own tracking domain. That is the deal: they get the click data, and you get a link that stops resolving the day your contract does. Owning the domain moves that dependency to something you control.

What this is for

Four situations, and what happens in each.

  1. 01

The links are collateral in the renewal

Two years of sequences, every one of them rewritten to a hostname you do not own. Migrating tools means every email already in somebody’s inbox points at a domain that no longer answers. Send from go.yourcompany.com instead and the tool becomes a thing you can change your mind about.

  2. 02

The deck moved in month three

A sequence runs for a quarter. Halfway through, the one-pager gets a new version and the pricing page moves. Repoint the link and every send — including the ones already in somebody’s archive — starts landing on the current file.

  3. 03

Some links should not work forever

A quote, a data room, a trial invite. A date rule sends anyone arriving after the window to a page that says so and offers a way to get back in touch, which is a better outcome than a 404 and a prospect who assumes you have gone out of business.

  4. 04

    Which step actually got clicked

Opens are noise; a click is not. One link per sequence and per step, tagged, gives volume by day, by country and by device — without a tracking pixel, and without asking the prospect to load anything they did not ask for.

One sequence, in three moments

Sent, moved, and still yours after the migration.

01Before the first send

The links go out on your domain, not the vendor’s

A CNAME and a TXT record at your DNS provider, and every link in every sequence is served from a hostname with your name on it.

The certificate is issued and renewed for you. When the tooling changes, this does not — which is the whole point of doing it before the first send rather than after the migration.

02Month three

The one-pager is replaced

The link is in four hundred emails that have already been sent, a calendar invite, and two signatures.

Change the destination once. Everything already out there follows, and the prospect who opens a month-old email gets the current file rather than a dead link and a bad impression.

03The pipeline review

Somebody asks which touch worked

Not opens — a pixel fires when a mail client prefetches images, which is most of the time and none of the interest.

A link per step, tagged by sequence. Clicks over time, by country and by device, and unique visitors counted from a salted hash rather than from an address.

What it costs

The domain, the routing rules and a year of history are all on Pro, priced per account rather than per rep. Adding the rest of the team costs nothing, which is not how the tools that rewrite your links price it.
